A Few Words From Me

This is Round 2 of the Writer's Block. Below is a mostly unedited version of comments I made about some of the poems submitted to me, back when I had this area on my old webiste. Hopefully the submissions will flow as well as they did on the other site. I look forward to all submissions. Now, on to the past:

I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone that has visited and submitted to this part of my Website! I couldn't ask for a better response. The e-mails have been great and I hope the writers are getting some good feedback as well. The Writer's Block has remained strong, and will continue to do so with the proper support. I also wanted to take a moment to talk about a few of the writers and poems that I have received so far. I apologize that I haven't been able to give as much feedback as some of you would probably like from me, but I have been fortunate enough to have some very pleasant correspondence with a few of you. I'm not going to cover all the poem's submitted. Mostly those people that have shown an interest in feedback, or general correspondence. But I will say this, I've yet to be disappointed in anything that's been submitted. And if you'd like to get a few words here, let's talk. Let's begin!

First up is Erik Jung and his poem, Nightmare. I might be a bit biased here, since I consider Erik a friend and all around great person, but I was very happy that this poem could be the first submission to the Writer's Block. I've known Erik for awhile now, without ever seeing any of his writing. I'm glad I finally got a chance to read something he has written.

How about the poem I just added tonight by Jennifer Walker! It is entitled, An Alcoholics Vow. I don't know Jennifer too well, although I probably should. (warm smile) It seems we have a few things in common. If anyone has ever dealt with alcoholism, personally or within one's own family structure, you can't read this without nodding your head as it's meaning unravels. Jennifer has done a wonderful job with this poem, and I hope to see more of her work. Not only that, but a conversation here and there. Thanks for sharing Jennifer!

Last, but definitely not least, Anu Mann! The one thing I want to say about Anu's writing is this: If you read Anu's writing and get disturbed or a funny feeling in the pit of your stomach....Good!! He's made you think!! Not only about what words land on the paper, but about the things he is writing about! I've been fortunate enough to have a few e-mail conversations with Anu, and I've also been fortunate enough to receive many submissions from him. You have to not only read his poems, but reread them. Take them in and chew on the words a bit, although some of those words and feelings may leave a sour taste in your mouth. Anu, as long as you submit them, I'll post them! Thank you very much for making the Writer's Block your outlet. I truly hope people will give you the feedback I know you crave.
