Dreams
Dreams dwell in the subconscious mind.
When you awake, sometimes they're hard to find.
They take control of your head,
Taking you on a journey in your bed.
A mixture of terror and delight -
Images and visions without eyesight.
At their mercy when you sleep -
Some full of joy, others make you weep.
The devil could torment your soul.
Tear you apart and make you feel unwhole.
Angels could save you and kiss your feet;
Pamper you, and give you a throne for a seat.
Your best friend could come at you with a knife -
While your worst enemy may save your life.
Emotions and images twisted;
Leaving reality misted.
Newborn flowers wilt and rot;
Making you wonder what's real and what's not.
How is it I stay dry in the rain?
Am I asleep or just insane?
Running through your head in a frantic rage;
Trapped inside your own emotional cage.
Is it truth or is it a lie?
All visions blur while you cry.
Suddenly you hear a distant sound;
Something that brings reality around.
You wake up and are safe it seems,
Until tomorrow night, you've escaped your dreams.
