As I get time, I will be posting more information on my game world for Heroes Unlimited.
You probably think that all the groups of "Heroes" are out protecting the innocent, fighting for the greater good, right? Not necessarily! You see, the world's a messed up place these days. Right and wrong have been thrown out the window. These days, it depends on who's giving the orders. Are they an Earth government regulated force, or do they work directly for the Corporation. Perhaps they are free-lance, or work directly for small corporations. All of these, and more give super hero groups financial backing, and each has it's own agenda for backing the various groups. So, the Heroes respond and react the way they know will collect them a paycheck. (note: "Corporation" & "corporation" refer to two totally different entities in my world. Corporation refers to an alien organization that has come to Earth and pretty much runs most governments, a lot of times referred to as THE Corporation. While, corporation refers to actual businesses and companies that run things on a monetary level. More information on all of this will follow as I created the pages that refer to the background of this campaign world.)
Below are some "teasers" for possible campaigns that I could run within Deadly Futures. Enjoy!
You trudge through the rain filled streets, keeping to the back alleys to keep the "public eye" off of you. No one needs to know your business but you. You flip up the collar of your coat to keep more of the rain out of your face, and to better hide it. You look around and sneer in disgust. The world has become a grim place. The Corporation runs everything, with the governments acting as their puppets. All corporations have more power than any individual could ever hope to have. And you, you get stuck in the middle of it all. You quickly stop your mind from wandering and look up ahead, you see movement in the alley. You stop where you are and speak.
"I hope you are my contact. And if you are, this had better be good. You and your boss have dragged me out in the rain. The pay better be good."
A man, dressed in a black suit, and black hat moves forward from the shadows. An umbrella is handed to him from the shadows. You wince a bit. You missed the second person. They are either good, or you're slipping. The man takes two steps and then stops. He looks up, but his face is mostly covered.
"Yes. I am your contact. And we feel this is very worth your time. You could say, this is worth all the time you could ever want. I am here to deliver your invitation. That is all. I will answer no questions at this time."
With that said, the man steps forward and hands you a black envelope, with gold trim. He turns and starts to walk away. You look down at the envelope and then back up to the man.
"Hey! You brought me out in the rain! Risking being spotted by The Corporation, for an envelope?!?! What is this all about?"
The man keeps walking, and shouts before disappearing into the shadows.
"Mistakes like that could cost you while playing the game! Learn to listen and follow directions! No questions! Good day!"
You open the envelope and pull out a fancy looking black and gold invitation. It reads as follows:
You Are Invited To Participate In
The Greatest Opportunity Of Your Life.
You Have Been Noticed As Special Among Your Kind.
It Is Up To You To Attend If You Wish,
But Once You Have Arrived You Will
Follow All Rules Of The Game.
There Is No Turning Back At That Time.
Interested? Show Your Invitation To Gain Access.
We Will Start The Game At The Old Docks.
When You Arrive, We Will Approach You.
K.
All You can do is shake your head. Is this for real? Was this worth being dragged into the rain? What are the rewards of winning this game? What is this game? Who is K? Why won't K's lackeys answer any simple questions?
You're left with a lot of questions. Now it's up to you to decide if you're willing to get the answers.
Are you willing to play the game?

"C'mon kid. I'll show you how it's done."
The man chuckled as he roughly slaps a clip into his readied weapon. The new recruit nods nervously to the veteran Agent. The two make their way around the corner of the building in time to see the white limousine pulling into the dock. The new recruit is nervous, but this is to be expected. Hell, the Corporation has sent him on a few easy missions and he's came back looking like roses every time, but he's never been this close to the grim side of being a Corp Agent. Chuckling again, the veteran Agent looks back at the newjack.
"You going to hold it all together kid?" Don't worry, I'll have you home by supper time."
The veteran Agent was confident. After all, this was only a Class 1 mission. Once again, they have taken it easy on the kid for his first real seek and destroy assignment. They stop silently as a man in a three piece white suit steps out of the limo and crosses the pier, walking towards the warehouse. The man in the suit stops suddenly and turns around, scanning the area. Deciding he doesn't like what he sees, or doesn't see, the man hurries back towards the limo.
"Shit! He knows something's up!"
The veteran Agent steps out into the night air and fires off his weapon at the man running towards the limo! The rookie stumbles into the open and attempts the same, but his aim is way off and he fires into the air!
"Dammit kid! Pull your head out or it's going to get blown off!"
The veteran Agent's laser seers the front two tires of the limo. He turns his aim on the man in the suit. The man stops where he is and grins towards the direction of the shots. A laser shot hits him in the chest and burns through his shirt, but leaves the man unharmed.
"You damn Corp Cops are going to pay for that! This is my favorite shirt!"
He raises his hand and shoots a bolt of lightning from his fingertips towards the two Agents.
"Shit! He's Powered! Down kid!! Down dammit!!"
But the warning comes too late. The new recruit is dancing on the end of a lightning bolt before collapsing to the ground, burnt and dead. The man in the suit just laughs.
"You're next, Corp Cop!"
The veteran looks in all directions, still shocked that they had been so uninformed on this mission. Either the Corporation is losing their touch at information gathering. Or someone high up wanted him or the newjack dead! Knowing that he's not prepped for a Class 6 assignment, and only being armed with a laser rifle that this guy seems to eat up like candy, the Agent spots the near by waterfront and makes a rushed dash for it! He runs as fast as he can, the whole time thinking that he'll be safe as long as he can reach the water. Just as he's starting his lunge for the safety of the cold water, the hairs on the back of is neck start to tingle.
