The Arena - Fighting Houses of the Arena

One of the main constants that keep the Arena running as smoothly as it does, is the involvement of the Fighting Houses. Through the Houses, fights are contracted, alliances are made and broken, and fighters are recruited and trained. Without the Houses, and many of their long standing grudges, the Arena probably wouldn't draw the crowds that it currently does. The following is a list of established Houses.

House of Fentiss - The House of Fentiss is a bit of a mystery. Actually, the House of Fentiss prefers to be a mystery. Most members of Fentiss wear black robes with hoods. They also wear masks over their faces. It has become the sport of all the other House fighters to get a Fentiss mask as a prize, in or out of the fighting pit. Fentiss himself wears a black hooded robe, and a black mask. Nothing is really known of Fentiss' appearance, except that he is a tall, slim figure. The other Houses are never really sure what to think of the House of Fentiss. For all they know, Fentiss has slipped up next to them without his mask, and had plenty of chances to slit their throats! Fentiss claims to know the secrets that all Houses keep. This has made the other Houses on edge, and there is a thin line of tension that will someday soon snap.

House of Tavish - The House of Tavish is like the rich spoiled kids neighborhood for Arena fighters! The House of Tavish fighters wear the color orange to represent their House. Most of the fighters wear highly decorated and fashionable fighting outfits. The rumors are that the House of Tavish fighters get the royal treatment, as long as they win. The fighters of Tavish, and Tavish himself, can often be found in the Underground Tavern drinking and generally having a good time that would make the best drinkers look on and get an instant hangover! Tavish is a larger man, with full beard and moustache. The color of his hair is brown, and it is worn short and curly. His eyes are a strange golden color that always seems to be twinkling off some unknown light source. He always wear highly decorated orange robes.

House of Kafha - If there's one thing you'll hear over and over while looking for information on the House of Kafha, it's simply, "Don't mess with them!" The House of Kafha is rumored to be financially backed by The Claw of the Dragon Clan, the most prominent and dangerous Thieves' Guild within Avagon. Actually, it's more than rumored, but people who don't like to vanish from their homes never to return, still use the polite term, "rumored" if they want to live. The Kafha House colors are Blue and Red. Kafha herself wears a Blue and Red set of leather armor. Kafha's hair is dark brown and thickly rat-tailed in the back, and shortly trimmed on the sides and front. Her eyes are green, with a hint of grey in them. She is very direct and very demanding. Kafha feels that no one can refuse her what she wants, as long as she has the backing that she does. This can place a new fighter looking for a House in a very difficult situation, if they are approached by the House of Kafha.

House of Rakeur - The House of Rakeur is a popular one. The House colors are a simple grey, with black trimming. Rakeur himself wears a set of Chainmail Armor with black trim and black etching designs throughout. The best word to describe Rakeur is, HUGE. He is a giant of a man, totally blocking most doorways. He is an ex-Arena fighter, turned HouseMaster. Rakeur has short cropped black hair, with grey around the edges. His eyes are black as coal and when they lock on you, you either respect his strength, or fear his anger. His approach is always straight forward and direct. He believes in action above all else. Rakeur isn't one for deep philosophy or extensive thinking, but he does know his way around the Arena and knows the art and strategies of war. Rakeur is publicly, and very verbally, against Vallek and the way he runs the Arena. Many would go even further and say that Rakeur would gladly kill Vallek, if given the proper chance. Rakeur has expressed an interest in becoming the next GrandMaster and restoring the Arena to its "former glory".

House of Nahralia - The House of Nahralia wears the colors White with Gold trim. Nahralia wears a long flowing white and gold robe. Her hair is long and golden with traces of silver running through it. Her eyes are a deep blue that are somehow gentle and strong at the same time. The House of Nahralia is a hard House to get into. Nahralia believes that her House is the last House that still believes in honor, code, and respect before all else. House of Nahralia fighters are constantly seen given their opponents chances to gather their wits and reclaim their weapons. Nahralia House fighters always try for honorable wins whenever possible. Any Death matches are contracted to be with either monsters or evil fighters. The House of Nahralia is the perfect House for a Paladin or Cleric, and a good percentage of this House is made up of those classes. The House of Nahralia does have a strict warriors code that deals strongly in a sense of discipline and honor. The only HouseMaster that Nahralia comes even close to getting along with is the House of Rakeur. She admires his fierce warrior spirit, but feels his boisterous ways seem a bit undisciplined. Also, Rakeur believes a win is a win. While Nahralia feels the only good win is a honorable one. Even a honorable loss is preferred to an unhonorable win.

House of Diabliss - The House of Diabliss is for those that love the warrior ways, to the extreme. The House of Diabliss wears the colors Purple, with Red trim. The fighters in this House are usually widely respected and feared in the Arena. They fight for the honor of their House, and love to spill blood. Some of the fighters are respectable fighters, that just fight hard and strong, while others are just out and out dirty, blood thirsty savages that are looking for a way to kill and not suffer any consequences. Some of the newer members of this House will battle in Submission matches, but most deal in Death matches or specially designed matches that resemble Submission matches, but offers less of the magical protection. In otherwords, there is still a good chance you could die. Diabliss is a tall, slender man. His lack of bulk should not be taken lightly, for he is completely lean muscle. His hair is long and black, and it falls off his shoulders and down his back. From time to time, he will wear his hair in a ponytail. His eyes are steel grey, and resemble the eyes of a cat. He wears dark purple leather armor, with red trim and designs throughout the armor. The House of Diabliss feels that the House of Nahralia is a worthless waste of Arena talent. The closest thing that the House of Diabliss has to an alliance, would be the House of Kafha. The House of Kafha admires the fierceness of some of these warriors, and sometimes offer contract work to members of this House for work outside the Arena that their mysterious backer seems to need done. The House of Diabliss also respects the warrior ways that the House of Rakeur have, but still feel them to be a weak substitute for the House of Diabliss. The House of Tavish completely disgusts this House. Many fights break out between these two Houses within the Underground Tavern.
