The Arena - Introduction

You travel the countryside looking for adventure. Deciding you need rest and relaxation, you find your way to the town of Arden Vale. After a stop within one of the Taverns, you start looking for a bit of entertainment. Down the way you notice a huge dome-shaped building. Making your way over to the building, you find it is the Arena. The only Arena within Avagon. As you approach, a disgustingly fat man sits at a table in front of the Arena, eating what's left of a side of mutton. He smiles as you approach and speaks to you in an overly friendly voice that makes you suspicious.

"Ahhh. Well met traveller! You look as if you have travelled the Realm and faced all of it's challenges! Well, you have not faced the challenge of my Arena!"

He laughs a sickening laugh.

"Are you looking to make a name for yourself, traveller? Or perhaps a coin or two? Both can easily be won within the Arena! Where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself! I am Vallek Desin, GrandMaster of the Arena! It is here that you can find fame and riches my friend! Especially if one of the Arena, House Masters takes a liking to you and takes you into his or her House of Fighters! The matches are assigned by power and rank, so you will never be outclassed unless you request a tougher match! We also offer a choice of Submission or Death matches! Of course, the pay and fame are both higher for matches that are to the death."

The fat man grins an almost evil grin.

"What say you, traveller? Sign a contract for a match? Rules? Ohhh, come now! Must we get into those at the moment?"

The man sighs and points over to a parchment on the wall.

"Very well! For strictly combat matches no magic items are allowed within the Arena, until you have proven yourself, and then only low level magical weapons or armor can be used. If a Death match is picked, it must be finished as such. The crowd does get a bit testy when there is no blood spilled! As for Mage matches, No magic items are allowed, unless the Mage is fighting a creature and not another Mage. If it is a creature, then the same rules apply as to a combat match. All spells are allowed, as long as the Mage can contain them within the fighting area of the Arena. Any other questions? Good, now, care to sign?"

There you have it. A brief introduction to the Arena that is found within Avagon. Below you will find links to other pages. These pages will describe, in more detail, the rules of the Arena, as well as some of the people you will encounter within the Arena. Also there will be links to a page displaying the current Arena Fame Status. There will be two lists, one that includes both Players and NPCs, and one that just compares Players to other Players. The Arena will be a little more than just Hack-N-Slash. There will be actual adventures and interaction with the NPCs of the Arena. Look around a bit more, and enjoy!
